Cathay Bank is its primary subsidiary and it has over $10.69 billion in assets as of December 31, 2012. It provides both personal and commercial financial services and has a presence throughout California, New York, Texas, Massachusetts, Washington, New Jersey and in Illinois. In addition, they also keep offices in Taipei, Shanghai and in Hong Kong. The office opened in Chinatown in Los Angeles in 1962 became the first Chinese-American bank in California. Their expansion to other states started in 1999 with the opening of their loan production office in Houston, Texas.
